TUI Cruises scales liquefied biomethane deployment across European cruise fleet
German cruise operator TUI Cruises is expanding its use of liquefied biomethane (LBM) to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across its European fleet. The dual-fuel Mein Schiff Relax operates entirely on LBM during the 2026 summer season in Northern Europe, while Mein Schiff Flow has been regularly bunkering the fuel in Barcelona since May 2026. By July 2026, LBM use had achieved ~26,000 tonnes of CO₂-equivalent savings, with projections reaching ~50,000 tonnes by year-end, according to chief executive Wybcke Meier.
