A workers' demonstration took place outside the DP World terminal at the Port of San Antonio. The motivation for the protest is reportedly related to the dismissal of some employees.
In this regard, the operator reported that "regarding the demonstrations recorded outside the terminal, we inform that these occurred in the context of disciplinary measures adopted by the company due to participation in unauthorized stoppages and other behaviors that contravene internal rules, procedures, and established standards for the safe and adequate development of our operations."
Furthermore, the company explained that "the dismissal of four individuals was determined, along with the application of other disciplinary measures, according to the background reviewed in each case. All these measures were adopted in accordance with the corresponding internal procedures and in strict adherence to current labor regulations."
Finally, DP World stated that "we regret the events that occurred and reiterate that the safety of people, operational continuity, and compliance with regulations constitute fundamental principles for our organization."
"The company will continue to address any situation of this nature through established mechanisms, always safeguarding due process and compliance with the current legal framework," the statement concluded.
