Puerto San Antonio kicked off its National Holidays celebrations with a successful event open to the community at Paseo Bellamar, which brought together hundreds of families and visitors for an entertaining Chilean-themed program.
The day featured performances of traditional cueca, cueca brava, and a tribute to Roberto Parra and La Negra Ester, presented by members of the San Antonio Bohemio Group.
Victoriano Gómez, Deputy Manager of Community Relations for Puerto San Antonio, highlighted that "we experienced a day marked by our traditions at Paseo Bellamar, with great participation from families and visitors who enjoyed the performances by cueca groups and local artists. As Puerto San Antonio, we will continue to promote these meeting spaces so that the community can share, enjoy, and strengthen its connection with our roots, by the sea and the port."
Janet Lagos, president of the San Antonio Bohemio Group, valued the interest the activity generated among residents and tourists. "For us, the support provided by the port company is very important, because without it, it would be much more difficult to showcase our work. This space allows us to share what we do and bring it closer to the community," she stated.
Attendees also praised the initiative. Vladimir Romero, who participated in the activity, commented that "I lived outside of Chile for a long time, so it's very emotional to reconnect with our traditions and Chilean music. I think it's excellent that free, open-air activities are held so that everyone can enjoy and learn about our folklore."
The celebrations will continue this September 18th, from 1:00 PM, at Paseo Bellamar. The program includes a performance by the Port Band, led by San Antonio composer Mario Medina Tapia, who won the folkloric competition at the Olmué Huaso Festival 2026 with the tonada "La curandera María."
Additionally, there will be an award ceremony for the contest to choose the best empanada in the commune, organized by the Economic Development Department of the Municipality of San Antonio. "We invite the people of San Antonio and the inhabitants of the province to participate in this 'dieciochera' celebration, which will offer something for the whole family to enjoy," added Victoriano Gómez.
