The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) reported that the Panama-flagged oil tanker El Gaia was attacked off the Oman coast on 13 September. 13 out of 14 crewmembers have been rescued by the Onami authorities.

Omani authorities rescued 13 crew members, while search and rescue operations continued for the remaining Indian national. The Indian Embassy in Oman is monitoring the situation and coordinating with Omani authorities.
The British maritime security agency UKMTO also reported that an unnamed vessel was struck by an unknown projectile while transiting the Strait of Hormuz. The attack caused a fire onboard, and local authorities evacuated the crew.
India condemned the attack on the vessel and said that attacks on commercial shipping and seafarers are unacceptable. MEA urged the restoration of safe navigation of vessels and the free flow of trade through the region.
El Gaia is a 2005-built oil tanker that measures 179.99 meters in length and 32.2 meters in width.
