A delegation from Empresa Portuaria Iquique (EPI) held a working meeting with the regional director of Corfo Tarapacá, Espártago Ferrari. The objective of the meeting was to promote the Regional Logistics Policy proposal, which seeks to establish a shared vision for the logistical development of the area and strengthen its position as a strategic gateway for integration between South America and the Asia-Pacific markets.
The meeting was led by the chairman of the EPI board, Max Barrera, accompanied by vice-president Ximena Cancino, director Sergio Telchi, and general manager Rubén Castro, which is part of the strengthening of public and inter-institutional work carried out by the state port company.
During the day, the authorities comprehensively addressed the main challenges of the Port of Iquique, delving into the scope of the Regional Logistics Policy proposal.
Likewise, synergies were identified to consolidate an articulated work agenda that enhances the logistical, productive, and connectivity capacities of the Tarapacá Region, allowing for the analysis of infrastructure challenges and the identification of opportunities to strengthen the economic development, connectivity, and competitiveness of the region.
In this regard, the institutions agreed that projecting the future of the sector requires a shared strategic vision that actively contributes to economic growth and territorial sustainability.
In this regard, the regional director of Corfo Tarapacá, Espártago Ferrari, commented that "this is the first of the working meetings to project Iquique to the year 2050. We have several common lines, the diagnoses have been made, which will allow us to add more authorities and all regional actors so that what we have on paper can be put into practice."
"I will meet with the relevant instances to provide the diagnosis, the requirements of all regional actors so that, together with the chairman of the board of the Port of Iquique, we have a shared vision and development, in harmony with the dreams and hopes of Tarapacá," he added.
With this meeting, Empresa Portuaria Iquique and Corfo Tarapacá reaffirm their commitment to coordinate cross-cutting actions among the various public and private actors in the logistics ecosystem, moving towards a comprehensive development model for the region.
