For years, we have recognized ourselves as a "platform region," an "exporting region," a "gateway to the Asia Pacific," or a "port logistics hub of the south-central region." In the 20 years of the Bio Bio Foreign Trade Board (Comex), we wanted to go a step further and embody that enormous collaborative work in an event. The time has come to connect our stakeholders in one place and invite others to expand the hinterland (area of influence).
The event "Biobío Logistics Hub, Connecting Chile with the World," which will be held on October 6th at SurActivo, is pioneering for several reasons. It is an unprecedented activity for the sector, as it will bring together talks, stands, and discussion spaces around foreign trade for the first time.
Furthermore, it will unite all links in the chain, both private and public, including eight port companies: Puerto Coronel, San Vicente Terminal Internacional (SVTI), Huachipato, Muelles de Penco, Talcahuano Terminal Portuario (TTPSA), Cabo Froward, DP World Lirquén, and Puertos de Talcahuano.
Finally, it aims to add new actors and cargo to the network, by considering Neuquén as a special guest.
This milestone adds to the intense integration work with Argentina led by the Regional Government (Gore), is part of multiple efforts aimed at launching a robust Biobío 2050 Strategy, and also seeks to open new business opportunities for a macro-zone whose main productive sectors have already reached maturity.
The enormous value chain opening up around the Vaca Muerta field, the opportunities emerging in the agribusiness sector if the Andes stops being seen as a natural border, the possibilities of adding an innovative import base to our export capacity. All these ideas and more are what we hope will flood the conversations that day, allowing us to think outside the box, challenge paradigms, and project our potential looking to the future without ties.
