The 100% electric ferry China Zorrilla arrived for the first time at the Port of Nueva Palmira (Uruguay). The vessel completed a 43-day journey from the Port of Hobart (Australia).
According to the National Ports Administration of Uruguay (ANP), "with a length of 130 meters and a capacity to transport 2,100 passengers and 225 vehicles, the ferry is now preparing for a unique disembarkation maneuver from the Black Marlin, a large heavy-lift cargo ship that transported it to the region."
Furthermore, it was indicated that "to carry out the operation, the Black Marlin will use its ballast tanks to partially submerge its platform and allow the China Zorrilla to float. Subsequently, Saam Towage teams will perform the necessary towing maneuver to separate the ferry from the deck of the transport vessel."
Finally, it was communicated that "once the operation is completed, the Black Marlin will expel the ballast water to regain its buoyancy." Subsequently, the China Zorrilla will be towed to its new destination; the Port of Colonia (Uruguay), where it will join the Buquebus fleet.
