Gulftainer signed a binding agreement to develop a strategic investment in the Suksawat container terminal on Thailand's Chao Phraya River, marking the arrival of the UAE-based Group in the country.
Located south of Bangkok in Samut Prakan, Suksawat serves importers and exporters throughout the capital's metropolitan area and has a direct barge connection to Laem Chabang, Thailand's main deep-water port.
Gulftainer plans to invest in the terminal's capacity, productivity, and service offerings, strengthening its role within Thailand's manufacturing and distribution networks and supporting more efficient connections between Bangkok, Laem Chabang, and international markets.
Farid Belbouab, Group CEO of Gulftainer, stated that "Thailand represents a significant milestone in Gulftainer's international growth. Suksawat provides us with a consolidated operational platform in one of Southeast Asia's most important manufacturing, consumption, and export markets, and a strong base from which we can build for the long term."
"Our ambition goes far beyond the terminal itself. We want to build an integrated trade and logistics platform in Thailand, combining ports, inland logistics, industrial infrastructure, and maritime connectivity to provide customers with increasingly efficient access to regional and international markets," the executive added.
The development of Suksawat will leverage the capabilities of GT Ports, GT Logistics, GT Parks, and GT Lines, integrating port operations, inland transportation, logistics infrastructure, and maritime connectivity. For customers, the priority will be reliable cargo flows, efficient connections, and comprehensive, competitive supply chains.
