From November 1, 2026, the Import/Export Fuel Surcharge (IFS/EFS) on U.S. inland haulage will increase from USD 140 to USD 215 per container.
The new rate applies to shipments on a Maersk ocean bill of lading where Maersk arranges the trucking to or from your door within the U.S. It applies to shipments with a Price Calculation Date (PCD) on or after November 1, 2026, and appears as a separate IFS/EFS line on your bill of lading.
Within the U.S. market specifically, the 13-week average price per gallon of diesel has increased by more than $0.10 per gallon, placing additional pressure on linehaul, drayage, depot, and first-mile transportation costs. While fuel represents only one component of the total cost to serve, it is a significant driver of transportation expense and directly impacts the cost of moving freight through our network.
We'll continue to closely monitor fuel trends and broader market conditions and will reassess surcharge levels as the market evolves.
