The steel supplier and processor company ParkerSteel has begun utilizing a storage facility at the Port of Sheerness. The company's objective is to increase its import capacity and provide faster delivery service to its customers.
Details of this development were provided on the website of the operator Peel Ports (concessionaire of the aforementioned port), stating that "the company was looking for a location with the capacity to handle larger vessels, offering storage facilities within the port premises and allowing direct distribution to customers. Creating a more efficient route from vessel unloading to the end-user was a key priority for ParkerSteel, which sought to strengthen and future-proof its supply chain."
"Peel Ports Group developed a steel import and storage operation at the Port of Sheerness, creating a solution that combined vessel handling capacity with port-centric storage and distribution. Sheerness' strategic location, combined with its expertise in handling steel cargo, allowed ParkerSteel to establish an optimized operation capable of meeting both current needs and future growth plans," the publication added.
Regarding the joint operations, it was indicated that "ParkerSteel has successfully unloaded its first three vessels and established a reliable import route to the southeast. This collaboration has allowed the company to benefit from in-port storage, improve supply chain efficiency, and create a more direct route for steel products to reach customers."
"Following the successful start of operations, both organizations continue to work together to support future growth and further strengthen the relationship," the statement concluded.
