The Port Authority of Castellón continues to advance in the development of the southern dock with the awarding of the execution of the works for "Paving of sidewalks and conditioning of services of the transversal roads of the liquid bulk sector".
PortCastelló will invest 627,843 euros for the improvement of infrastructure and internal connectivity in this area of the port facility, with a project execution period of six months.
The president of PortCastelló, Rubén Ibáñez, emphasized the importance of the project and, in this regard, highlighted that the intervention "is part of the transformation and development process of the southern dock, where the Port Authority of Castellón is making investments aimed at improving infrastructure, optimizing connectivity, and generating new spaces to attract logistics and industrial activity."
Likewise, as Ibáñez indicates, with the urbanization of the area, the port of Castellón "strengthens its capacity to attract new investments and consolidate itself as a competitive logistics hub, while adapting its infrastructure to the current and future needs of companies operating in the port facility." "Our goal is to continue growing and improving our facilities to promote the generation of economic activity and employment associated with the port sector," he affirmed.
Description of the works
The works include the paving of sidewalks and the conditioning of services associated with the transversal roads of the liquid bulk sector, improving the urbanization and functionality of this area. It will complete and improve the road network of the area, providing it with the necessary conditions for its development and facilitating that the spaces can be prepared for their future concession and use by companies.
Scope of action of the works
The works are located at the boundary between the inner enclosure of the southern dock of the port of Castellón and the economic activity concessionaires of energy.
The scope of action for the paving of the sidewalks of the road and the urbanization with service networks has an approximate area of 20,000 m2.
Currently, the southern dock has the presence of different concessionary companies linked to solid and liquid bulk activity. The improvement of the infrastructure will strengthen the conditions of this area to host new business initiatives and accompany the growth of port activity.
Projects that drive the expansion of the southern dock
In this context, it is important to highlight the expansion and development potential of this area of the port and its capacity to attract new investments and businesses. It should be remembered that, in this part of the port facility, in the vicinity of the Serrallo industrial estate, the LogistiCS industrial park is planned to be developed, which will house cutting-edge industrial and energy projects.
To this must be added the commissioning of the intermodal station with rail connection to the port from the south, which will represent "a turning point in the port's competitiveness, expanding its hinterland, attracting new traffic, and reinforcing its role as a strategic hub in the Mediterranean arc," assured the head of PortCastelló.
Likewise, the regional government recently injected 76 million euros into BP to promote the transformation of the refinery into a green energy hub, which will contribute to the consolidation of the port of Castellón as a strategic hub focused on ecological transition and environmental sustainability.
