The Almería Port Authority (APA) is immersed in an intense process of expanding port activity in the two ports of general state interest it manages: Almería and Carboneras, through the direct implementation of new industry and the maximization and diversification of port traffic. To advance these projects, which are already undergoing administrative processing, the president of the APA, Rosario Soto Rico, and the deputy director of Strategy and Business Development of Puertos del Estado, Álvaro Rodríguez Dapena, held a working meeting with the port authority's management team at the Port of Almería.
"In what remains of 2026 and through the investment attraction we have worked on in recent years, we are going to generate industry in both ports and boost solid bulk traffic; this port activity will make us more competitive and increase job creation in the province," says Soto.
The head of Strategy at Puertos del Estado, with more than 30 years of experience in the public body, including the presidency between 2021 and 2025, advised the APA team on drafting the specifications for the establishment of a steel pipe industry in the Port of Almería promoted by the company Noksel, which has requested a public port domain plot with an area of more than 4 hectares. Regarding the Port of Carboneras, the meeting addressed the valorization of the former Endesa port facilities, to exponentially increase the solid bulk exports of the Almería Port Authority, which already leads in the national port system.
