Chancay to Expand to 15 Berths in Second Expansion Phase

The Port of Chancay, in Peru, plans a second expansion phase that would incorporate 11 new berths, increasing its capacity from four to 15. Cosco Shipping Ports expects to activate this phase when the terminal reaches one million containers moved.

By 2026, the company estimates moving close to 500,000 containers, compared to the 342,000 recorded last year. The growth of the operation strengthens the terminal's maritime connections with Asian markets, especially China.

The Chancay-Shanghai route reduces the navigation time to China to approximately 23 days, favoring the transport of fresh products. The terminal moves, among other products, avocados, grapes, blueberries, minerals, and fishmeal, expanding logistical alternatives for South American foreign trade.
