The Port of Cartagena Group received five new Konecranes RTGs at its Contecar terminal, transported aboard the motor vessel Parkgracht. These units represent the first delivery of a total of 25 RTGs that will be progressively incorporated into the terminal's operations.
The new rubber-tyred gantry cranes (RTGs) feature remote-control operation technology and were designed to increase the efficiency, safety, and productivity of yard operations.
The incorporation of these units represents a new advance in Contecar's technological modernization process and will optimize container handling within the terminal. Remote operation will help strengthen process control and maintain the high performance standards that characterize the Port of Cartagena Group terminals.
Each of these units will have the capacity to move up to 30 containers per hour, which will strengthen Contecar's operational capacity and respond more efficiently to the needs of shipping lines and the various actors in the logistics chain.
The arrival of these first five RTGs marks the beginning of the process of incorporating the 25 new units, an initiative that is part of the actions undertaken by the Port of Cartagena Group to integrate cutting-edge technology into its processes, continuously improve productivity, and consolidate an increasingly safe and reliable operation.
With this technological renewal, the Port of Cartagena Group continues to prepare its infrastructure and operations to meet the demands of international maritime trade and contribute to strengthening the country's connectivity and competitiveness.
