Empresa Portuaria Austral presented its 2025 Report, a document that reviews a key year in its history, marked by the beginning of a port modernization cycle that redefines the role of the logistics system in the Magallanes Region.
The report outlines a structural change in the management and development of public port infrastructure, from a stage focused on maintenance and operational continuity to a phase that adds expansion and project execution. This process positions it as an enabling platform for the economic, productive, and social development of the southern territory.
One of the central aspects of the document is the transformation cycle that the state-owned port company is undergoing, which is expressed in physical, financial, and organizational dimensions.
In this regard, during 2025, significant works were carried out, such as the expansion of the Arturo Prat Terminal dock, which allows for the docking of larger cruise ships, and the strengthening of the José de los Santos Mardones Terminal, aimed at increasing logistical capacity and handling highly complex cargo. These initiatives reflect a historic leap in investment, with recent amounts exceeding the accumulated investment of previous decades.
Precisely, regarding investment, Epaustral highlights the deployment of an ambitious plan that lays the groundwork for the future development of the Magallanes public port system, and which includes active negotiations with local entities (Magallanes Regional Government) and international banking (Inter-American Development Bank) to obtain resources.
Among the projects underway and in development are the construction of a new passenger terminal, the expansion of docking capacities, and the incorporation of specialized equipment in its main port facilities, aimed at improving competitiveness and responding to market demands.
This version of the Annual Report includes letters that enhance the transversal narrative of Empresa Portuaria Austral during the period.
In his last letter as Chairman of the Epaustral Board, Gabriel Aldoney emphasized that the company has driven a structural change in its development model, aimed at providing the region with world-class infrastructure, enabling new industries, consolidating cruise tourism, and strengthening the region's role as a gateway to the Antarctic continent.
In addition to this message, the Report includes words from the Minister of Transport and Telecommunications, Louis de Grange, who highlights Epaustral's role as an articulator of the regional economy and emphasizes that the current deployment of investments will strengthen competitiveness, maritime connectivity, and Chile's projection towards Antarctica, positioning Magallanes as a logistics hub of international relevance.
Finally, the report projects the company's strategic development for the 2026–2029 period, with an investment portfolio exceeding USD 120 million, seeking to consolidate a modern public port system.
