Enstructure, a privately held logistics infrastructure and marine terminal company, and Diamond State Port Corporation (DSPC) celebrated the groundbreaking of Delaware Container Terminal (DCT), the future state-of-the-art marine container terminal at the Port of Wilmington.
This milestone was celebrated alongside key partners and collaborators, including the State of Delaware, the International Longshoremen's Association, the Delaware Building Trades Council, community representatives, and Delaware's congressional delegation.
After a successful phase of collaboration and planning that lasted several years, the DCT is on track to open its doors in early 2029.
"Since serving as county executive, I have supported the Port of Wilmington and the workers who make it run. Our port is an economic engine for our state, and this expansion will allow us to remain regionally competitive, boost our economy, create quality jobs, and strengthen the supply chains we all depend on. I am proud to have championed funding for this expansion during my time in the Senate and am excited to see it come to fruition," said Senator Christopher Coons.
"This modernization of the Port of Wilmington is a smart investment in working families, skilled trades, our economy, and Delaware's ability to continue to lead. I am proud to stand with my colleagues in celebrating this historic advancement for Delaware's port infrastructure," said Representative Sarah McBride.
"The future does not emerge on its own; we build it. Here we begin one of the largest economic development projects in Delaware's history. This public and private investment will create thousands of good middle-class jobs, expand opportunities for Delaware workers and businesses, and solidify Wilmington as a leading global port. The state of Delaware demonstrates once again that we can think big, build big, and lead," stated Delaware Governor Matthew Meyer.
"This marks an exciting new chapter for Delaware. This groundbreaking ceremony goes beyond building a container terminal; it's about creating opportunities for Delaware workers and families. This project will expand our port's capacity, create thousands of well-paying jobs, boost Delaware's role in global trade, and generate long-term opportunities. After years of planning and hard work, I am thrilled to see this project get underway," said Charuni Patibanda-Sanchez, Delaware Secretary of State and Chair of the Diamond State Port Corporation Board of Directors.
"This milestone represents the transition from vision to execution. Together with Diamond State Port Corporation, the International Longshoremen's Association, and Delaware Building Trades, we are building transformative infrastructure that will strengthen supply chains, expand capacity, and create new opportunities for customers across North America," communicated Matthew Satnick and Philippe De Montigny, Co-Chief Executive Officers of Enstructure.

This investment will position us as international leaders in trade, connecting global markets with products across the Atlantic," defined Senator Darius Brown, Co-Chair of the Port of Wilmington Expansion Task Force and Member of the Diamond State Port Corporation Board of Directors.
