An oil leak was reported at the port of Antwerp on 14 September, disrupting the shipping traffic in the Deurganckdok area between the vessel and the shore.

The pollution occurred at around 3:00 PM local time from the vessel MSC Renaissance III while moored near Quay 1718 at the MPET terminal in Antwerp. The incident partially halted vessel traffic in Deurganckdok, while shipping on the left bank was diverted via the Kallosluis instead of the Kieldrechtsluis where possible.
An emergency response operation was launched immediately to contain the pollution and prevent further spread. The operation included sealing the damaged section of the vessel, containing the leaked oil and cleaning the affected area.
The next day, the vessel traffic resumed, and the cleaning operation was concluded.
MSC Renaissance III is a 2006-built vessel that measures 222.54 meters in length and 32.26 meters in width. Following the incident, the hole in the ship's hull has been temporarily sealed pending permanent repair.
