Hornbeck Offshore Services announced that its subsidiary Helix Well Ops (UK) Limited has secured a multi-year decommissioning contract with a major North Sea operator. The contract is anticipated to commence in the second quarter of 2027 and has a fixed duration of two years, with a client option for extension.
Under the contract, Hornbeck will perform riserless well plugging and abandonment operations using either the Well Enhancer or the Seawell, both purpose-built well intervention vessels. Additionally, Hornbeck will provide a fully integrated solution, including the vessel, a well access system (Subsea Intervention Lubricator), ROV, saturation diving, and project management and engineering services.
"This new multi-year contract builds directly on Hornbeck's prior success and reinforces our expertise in delivering safe, efficient, and rigless decommissioning solutions in the North Sea. Leveraging our asset base and extensive operational experience, we are proud to support our client in executing our comprehensive decommissioning solution under a single contract," said Todd M. Hornbeck, Hornbeck's President and Chief Executive Officer.
