Knud E. Hansen announced its continued involvement in the development of Compagnie Maritime Nantaise (MN)'s new RoRo vessel dedicated to space logistics, following its recent announcement alongside Sogestran regarding the signing of the shipbuilding contract with Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI). Knud E. Hansen's participation will include contract design development; technical support during project development; basic design development; and continued cooperation with MN, GSI, and project stakeholders during subsequent project phases.
"This project represents another important milestone for us and reflects the company's ongoing commitment to working closely with our clients to develop vessel designs tailored to their business needs, operational requirements, and sustainability ambitions," Knud E. Hansen communicated.
The vessel was designed for the transport of launch vehicles, satellites, and other sensitive cargo for the European space industry. Developed in close collaboration with MN, VPLP, and project partners, the design has been adapted to meet the demanding requirements of space cargo transport, combining high levels of safety, energy efficiency, and logistical flexibility, with special attention to emission reduction, including the integration of a wind-assisted propulsion system (WAPS).
