LD Armateurs reached a new milestone in the construction of the Wind of Energy vessel, with the keel-laying ceremony held at the ZPMC shipyard in China.
The Wind of Energy is the second of two Service Operation Vessels (SOV) built by LD Armateurs for Vattenfall, as part of a long-term collaboration dedicated to offshore wind energy operations in the North Sea.
The vessel will join the Wind of Ocean, launched at the end of August, and is expected to enter service before the end of 2027, where it will contribute to the operations of Vattenfall's Nordlicht 1 and 2 offshore wind farms.
The keel-laying marks the beginning of the hull assembly. At that time, the first block was placed in dry dock and the others will be progressively assembled as construction progresses.
