Watch video: Port of Antwerp-Bruges launches the Volta 1: Europe's first electric tugboat
The Port of Antwerp-Bruges launched -this Monday- the Volta 1, Europe's first all-electric tugboat.
This launch, according to the local port authority, "marks an important step in the port's comprehensive sustainability program," whose ultimate goal is to achieve climate-neutral operation by 2050.
Developed in close collaboration with Damen, the tugboat follows in the footsteps of previous world firsts, such as the Hydrotug (hydrogen-powered) and the Methatug (methanol-powered).
