The vessel was sailing from Mersin to Yalova when it experienced a machinery failure off Kilitbahir, leaving it unable to continue its voyage. The incident was managed by the Canakkale Ship Traffic Service Centre, which coordinated the response to ensure the vessel could be safely moved from the area.
A pilot captain boarded the vessel while the Kiyem-1 boat and Rescue-17 tugboat provided escort support. The vessel was safely towed and anchored at Dark Harbour.
Kapitan Shyriagin is a 1998-built vessel measuring 142.48 meters in length and 16.1 meters in width.
