Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd are expected to resume transiting the Suez Canal starting November 12 and 13, respectively, using their joint ME1 service between India and Europe. The decision marks a step forward in the recovery of this strategic route, following diversions via the Cape of Good Hope.

The change will allow for reduced transit times and optimized logistical connections between both continents. Additionally, it could favor inventory replenishment, decrease storage costs, and improve the efficiency of maritime cargo transport.

The continuity of operations will be subject to the evolving security conditions in the Red Sea. The return will also require adjustments in port calls planning, port capacity, and logistical connections, depending on the dynamics of this strategic route.
