Seaspan and Maersk upgrade 18 vessels with USD $75 million fleet efficiency program
Seaspan and Maersk announced a comprehensive vessel efficiency programme across 18 vessels on long-term charter, with combined investments of approximately USD $75 million. The retrofit solution for four 13,000 TEU vessels includes shaft generator installation, main engine optimization, high-efficiency propeller, and carbon capture readiness, expected to improve slot cost by approximately 10–13%. WattSpan, Maersk, and COSCO Shipyard signed a non-binding Memorandum of Cooperation establishing a one-year framework for collaboration on vessel upgrades and maritime decarbonization technologies.
