The Panama Maritime Authority (AMP), through the Directorate General of Merchant Marine (DGMM), announces that it is fully aware of the incident recorded in international waters, in which the Panamanian-flagged vessel "On Peace" (IMO No. 9893204) was involved.
According to official reports received by this administration, on October 5, 2026, at 19:30 UTC (23:30 local time), the vessel reported having been hit by a projectile of unknown origin while transiting from the port of Sitrah, Bahrain, to Fujairah, United Arab Emirates.
It was confirmed that no marine pollution or environmental damage has been recorded in the area. All crew members on board have been duly accounted for; however, 12 seafarers sustained injuries as a result of the impact. Of these, 10 crew members who required specialized medical attention ashore were safely evacuated from the vessel and are currently receiving treatment at a medical center.
Currently, the vessel is being assisted and towed to the port of Shinas, in the Sultanate of Oman, where a complete technical assessment of the structural damage suffered will be carried out. Given this event, the AMP maintains rigorous monitoring and a direct and permanent communication channel with local authorities, operators, and the vessel's owning company, providing all corresponding support in accordance with our powers as a Flag State and in strict adherence to international maritime law.
The Directorate General of Merchant Marine reiterates that the absolute priority of the Panamanian State is the physical integrity of seafarers and the safety of global navigation.
Given the prevailing insecurity conditions in the region, the AMP reiterates to the international fleet the recommendations contained in Merchant Marine Notices MMN-04/2025 and MMN-05/2026.
