The Panama Canal and EUROCLIMA Promote Sustainable Solutions in the Canal Basin
The Panama Canal launched the project "Nature-Based Solutions in the Panama Canal Basin," driven by the European Union's EUROCLIMA program in conjunction with the Ministry of Environment, to promote adaptation and reduce vulnerability to climate change. The basin provides water to 58% of the Panamanian population and sustains the operations of one of the main international maritime trade routes. The project includes strengthening local capacities, community pilot projects, and nature-based solutions.
