Within the framework of articulation and social conflict prevention actions, the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC), through the Office of Dialogue and Social Management, participated in an informative meeting to present the preliminary scope of the Lima–Barranca Railway and Chancay–Chancayllo Bypass projects, as well as to gather observations from the population regarding possible impacts.
During the meeting, the technical team of the Northern Railway Consortium reported that the railway project is in the profile study and feasibility evaluation stage, considering the Callao–Barranca section and a branch towards the Chancay district. They also highlighted that the infrastructure will improve regional connectivity, reduce travel times, and strengthen economic and logistical activity.
For their part, representatives of the Chacarilla Barrios Altos Peasant Association expressed concern about the possible overlap of projects on their agricultural lands and requested that technical studies evaluate alternatives that minimize property impacts.
In response, the ODGS clarified that both projects are still in preliminary phases and that the population's observations will be forwarded to the technical teams for evaluation during the definitive studies, further reaffirming its commitment to strengthening dialogue and transparent communication with the involved population.
In this way, the MTC creates spaces for dialogue to address the concerns of the involved population and reaffirms its commitment to implementing projects aimed at also strengthening regional connectivity, favoring passenger and cargo transport, reducing vehicular congestion, and decreasing travel times.
