The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) has extended the temporary vehicle circulation restriction on Néstor Gambetta Avenue until May 31, 2027, while actions are carried out to re-establish vehicle circulation in a compromised area.
The measure, established by Directorial Resolution N° 020-2026-MTC/18, will be in effect from October 1, 2026, to May 31, 2027, 24 hours a day and in both directions of circulation. This continues the measure currently in force until September 30, 2026.
This decision allows for the maintenance of controlled traffic conditions while Provías Nacional continues with interventions aimed at restoring the road platform and stabilizing the slope in the affected section of the National Road Network, reconciling the execution of these works with the continuity of user and public transport movements during the intervention period.
In this context, the restriction comprises two levels. In the first, between km 0+000, corresponding to the junction with National Route PE-1N – Zapallal Road Interchange, and km 5+400, at the height of Óvalo Ventanilla, the circulation of cargo vehicles with a gross vehicle weight greater than 6.5 tons is restricted.
In the second, between km 3+560, at the height of Calle 7 de Junio, and km 4+200, at the height of the access to A.A.H.H. Villamoto, the restriction applies to all vehicle categories due to it being the directly affected section. In both cases, the measure is in effect 24 hours a day and in both directions of circulation.
To contribute to the enforcement of the provision, the Peruvian National Police, in coordination with Sutran, will continue to carry out corresponding control actions in the intervened sector. Likewise, Provías Nacional will make available to users, through its institutional portal, the alternative routes applicable during the restriction, in order to facilitate movements and reduce the effects of the measure on mobility and activities in the area.
In this regard, the MTC reiterates the importance of respecting the current provisions and urges drivers to comply with the established restrictions, signage, and alternative routes, thus contributing to the proper development of interventions aimed at restoring the transitability of Néstor Gambetta Avenue and preserving road safety.
