Ahead of Ban, EU is Importing More Russian LNG Than Last Year
European ports imported about 18 percent more gas from Novatek's Yamal LNG plant in the first five months of 2026 than in the same period in 2025, according to NGO Urgewald analysis. In May, 23 out of 25 LNG cargoes from Yamal went to EU seaports—about 92 percent of monthly shipments. Long-term contracts signed before March 18 remain valid until January 2027, though new contracts can no longer be signed.
