Jones Act Waiver Extended 90 Days Amid Industry Concerns
The American Waterways Operators released a statement on the Trump Administration's decision to extend the Jones Act waiver for an additional 90 days beginning August 17, 2026. While AWO acknowledges improvements to the waiver including Department of War consultation requirements, the organization expressed deep disappointment, citing that the waiver has not been driven by military needs, has not reduced gasoline prices for U.S. consumers, and has allowed foreign vessels linked to China and Russia to take work from American operators.
