The National Ports Administration (ANP) of Uruguay presented a project to modernize the management of assets in the Dredging Area, an initiative that will be developed in conjunction with the UTE Conex consultancy.
The initiative includes the review and documentation of maintenance processes for the area, the definition of maintenance plans for each asset according to its criticality and operating conditions, as well as advice for the implementation of an asset management information system that facilitates planning and provides reliable information for decision-making.
Likewise, the idea foresees support during the implementation of the technological tool and staff training, with the aim of consolidating standardized management, strengthening maintenance planning, and ensuring the sustainability of the system over time.
During the presentation, it was highlighted that the technical knowledge of the ANP teams will be the basis for designing maintenance strategies, while UTE Conex will contribute its experience in implementing asset management systems and process improvement, adapting methodologies used in the electricity sector to the operational reality of port dredging.
According to Manuel Ferrer, manager of the ANP's Dredging Area, the dredging fleet constitutes a strategic asset for the operation of the port of Montevideo and the other ports in the country, making it essential to ensure timely and efficient maintenance to increase its operational availability.
In this regard, Ferrer pointed out that the joint work with UTE will allow for the development of a proprietary management system, specifically designed for the characteristics of the ANP fleet and built with the participation of the workers who operate it. The objective will be to reduce repair times, maximize vessel availability, and increase the operational capacity of the dredging service.
