Between January and August 2026, TCP, the company that manages the Container Terminal of Paranaguá, achieved a new record in the export of refrigerated containers. In total, 93.7 thousand units were shipped, a figure 6% higher than the result for the same period in 2025, which was 88.4 thousand units.
This result goes hand in hand with the increase in shipments of meat and frozen products at TCP, which grew by 12%, with a volume that soared from 2.359 million tons in 2025 to 2.635 million tons in 2026.
According to Fabio Mattos, commercial manager at TCP, "the growth is mainly due to the resumption of chicken meat shipments, after 2025, when Brazil suffered sanitary restrictions, and the expansion of pork exports, which at the Container Terminal of Paranaguá grew above the national average."
In the first eight months of the year, TCP shipped 1.777 million tons of frozen chicken meat, a result 21% higher than the 1.469 million tons recorded in the same period of the previous year. The main destinations were China (12%), the United Arab Emirates (9%), and South Africa (8%). Approximately 47% of all chicken meat exported by Brazil was shipped from the Container Terminal of Paranaguá.
According to the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA), the country exported 3.921 million tons of chicken meat in 2026, generating revenues of US$ 7.689 billion, an increase of 21.9% compared to the US$ 6.308 billion recorded in 2025.
Beef exports also stood out and ranked second among those shipped at TCP, with a total of 439 thousand tons. The main importers of the product exported by the Terminal were China (43%), the United States (13%), and Russia (8%).
According to a bulletin from the Brazilian Association of Beef Exporting Industries (ABIEC), the country shipped 2.202 million tons of beef, representing a growth of 5.3% compared to the same period in 2025. Accumulated revenues reached US$ 12.79 billion, an increase of 21.7%.
Regarding pork shipments, TCP recorded a 48% increase in exports, which rose from 15.8 thousand tons to 23.4 thousand tons. The Philippines (34%), Ivory Coast (16%), and Liberia (13%) were the main buyers of the product exported by TCP.
"The Container Terminal of Paranaguá has a large number of weekly calls, a specialized service for the refrigerated cargo segment, and the largest infrastructure for storing refrigerated containers in Brazil, with 5,280 reefer plugs. TCP is the largest corridor for shipping meat and frozen products in the country and expects to expand its participation in this market with the completion of expansion works to nearly 6,000 reefer plugs, which will be completed in 2027," explains Mattos.
Currently, TCP is the largest maritime services hub on the Brazilian coast, with 22 regular weekly routes between long-haul and cabotage operations.
