A US-flagged high-speed tour boat, the Klondike Express, was damaged in a fire that broke out at the Chugach Glacier Gateway cruise terminal in Alaska. The vessel was moored alongside the burning dock and sustained damage. Fortunately, no passengers or crew were aboard, and no injuries were reported.

The fire was reported at around 11:00 a.m. local time on 14 September at Whittier's commercial cruise terminal. Flames and heat from the dock damaged the high-speed vessel Klondike Express. Phillips Cruises & Tours, the operator of Khondike Express stated that the fire did not originate aboard the vessel; it was damaged by the smoke and flames from the adjacent burning docks.
Emergency responders released the boat from the pier so firefighting operations could continue unhindered. The full extent of the damage sustained by the vessel has not yet been reported.
The Coast Guard established a 500-yard safety zone around the fire and has asked residents and tourists to remain clear of the zone.
The Bahamas-flagged cruise ship Norwegian Jade, which was also docked at the cruise ship terminal, has safely departed the area.
Phillips Cruises & Tours has stated that its operations will continue in the region using its other vessels, which are in good condition. The cause of the fire and a damage assessment of the vessel are yet to be released.
