Daniela Gargiulo becomes first woman staff captain at Carnival Cruise Line

Daniela Gargiulo became the first woman staff captain in Carnival Cruise Line's global fleet at a ceremony aboard Carnival Adventure in Sydney on August 7, 2026. The Italy native enrolled in nautical school at 14 and joined Carnival as a deck cadet in 2013, steadily progressing through the ranks. She replaces Staff Capt. Giovanni Scotto Di Perrotolo as second-in-command to Capt. Francesco Bencivenga.
