As part of the conclusion of its training period and on the eve of Chile's National Holidays, on the morning of Tuesday, September 15, the Iquique Port Company (EPI) opened the doors of the Molo Terminal to welcome the training ship Esmeralda upon its arrival on the Tarapacá coast.
Authorities such as the regional presidential delegate, Adriana Tapia; the mayor of Iquique, Mauricio Soria; as well as representatives from the Fourth Naval Zone, Port Captaincy, and Maritime Governorate, along with various institutions, greeted the vessel's arrival. It was welcomed with 'esquinazos' (traditional Chilean folk dances) by folk groups and family members of the crew.
Likewise, and with the aim of bringing this event closer to families and strengthening integration with our environment, the Navy invites the entire community to tour the ship during its stay in port until September 19. The "White Lady" has a length of 113 meters, a beam of 13 meters, and a maximum draft of 7 meters.
Thus, the Navy has arranged public visits to berth 1 of the Molo Terminal. These will be on Wednesday and Thursday from 1 PM to 5 PM, while on Friday, they will be from 12 PM to 5 PM. Transportation is available from the front of the Iquique Maritime Governorate for entry to the port facility.
