With music and a family atmosphere, Puerto San Antonio celebrated the National Holidays with the community at Paseo Bellamar, an emblematic city space that had the sea and the port as the setting for a day dedicated to rescuing the traditions that are part of the identity of San Antonio and the country.
The event featured a performance by the local group "Herencia Cuequera", which captivated visitors with its folklore. They were joined by the San Antonio singer and composer Mario Medina, winner of the 2026 Festival del Huaso de Olmué, who shared part of his repertoire with La Banda del Puerto.
The Deputy Manager of Community Relations at Puerto San Antonio, Victoriano Gómez, highlighted that "we have had an exceptional and very joyful day, in which attendees enjoyed a very significant local artist like Mario Medina. We are happy to experience these types of activities with our community and at Paseo Bellamar."
Gómez added that "we want Paseo Bellamar to continue being a meeting point for families, entrepreneurs, our artists, and everyone who is part of this city. For Puerto San Antonio, it is very important to generate these instances where we can meet, value our traditions, and celebrate together what we are as the San Antonio community."
"This is our first performance in San Antonio after the Festival del Huaso de Olmué. I want to deeply thank Puerto San Antonio for inviting us to participate with our people in this beautiful promenade that we have, with a wonderful day and local music," said Mario Medina.
The day also featured one of the most traditional preparations of these dates: the "pino" empanada. Eight local businesses participated in the contest organized by the Municipality of San Antonio, with the sponsorship of Puerto San Antonio. The jury, made up of Patricio Riquelme, a member of Chefs del Mar, and councilors Sofía Contreras and José Ibarra, determined that El Sol bakery took first place.
Councilman Manuel Meza, in his capacity as protocolary mayor, valued the realization of this initiative and stated that "I believe it is very important to promote and recognize the work of San Antonio entrepreneurs, many of whom have been developing their businesses for years and others who are just starting out today. This activity demonstrates that, by working together, we can generate spaces for meeting and participation for the community. I want to especially highlight the collaboration between the municipality, entrepreneurs, and Puerto San Antonio, which made this entertaining "dieciochera" activity possible."
Gloria Guajardo, Head of Economic Development of the Municipality of San Antonio, assured that "we are happy and proud that bakeries and entrepreneurs have trusted to participate in this initiative, which has been very transparent," while judge Patricio Riquelme confessed that "as a cook, I love Chilean cuisine. For me, being here today representing my group Chefs del Mar is a source of pride, so I want to thank Empresa Portuaria San Antonio and the Municipality for these gastronomic encounters in our port, where we have a lot of gastronomic tradition."
"Grateful to our customers, who encouraged us to participate. We make empanadas every weekend and people tell us they are very delicious. So, that's why we decided to participate," said Macarena Iturbe, one of the owners of El Sol bakery.
