A cumulative total of 43,004 passengers mobilized on 3,940 vessels was registered by the Panama Maritime Authority (AMP) upon concluding, this November 5, the Maritime Safety Operation for the National Holidays, deployed in various ports of the national territory to guarantee user protection and safe navigation during the festivities.
On the last day of the operation, 1,252 departures and the mobilization of 14,485 passengers were registered. The return of travelers proceeded regularly and without incidents to report.
These results were possible thanks to the supervision and surveillance efforts of 143 AMP collaborators, in coordination with personnel from the National Civil Protection System (SINAPROC) and the National Aeronaval Service.
During the closing day at the port of Almirante, Bocas del Toro province, inspection actions led to the initiation of three administrative proceedings against vessel captains. Detected offenses included navigating without life jackets, lack of required documentation, and the use of expired operating licenses.
Throughout the three days of the operation, effective coordination with national port administration was articulated. Likewise, the responsible and orderly conduct of captains and passengers was highlighted, as they complied with safety, nautical prevention, and maintenance measures, ensuring the success of the operation alongside the authorities.
