The Iranian-flagged oil tanker Hasna was sailing in international waters through the Gulf of Oman, headed toward an Iranian port. CENTCOM stated that forces monitored the vessel and radioed it multiple times warning the vessel that it was violating the US blockade.
When the vessel failed to comply, an F/A-18 Super Hornet aircraft launched from the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) used its 20mm cannon to disable the tanker's rudder. With the rudder disabled, the Hasna can no longer proceed to Iran under its own power.
The Hasna is an Iranian-flagged crude oil tanker built in 2003. It has a length of 333.13 meters, a beam of 58 meters, and a gross tonnage of 160,930.
The US has stated that the blockade on Iranian ports remains in full effect.
