Empresa Portuaria Iquique (EPI) reaffirms its logistical role in cargo diversification, which allows it to strengthen its commitment to sustainable development and the energy transition of the Tarapacá Region.

This follows the arrival of the vessel MV Green Río Grande. The vessel, coming from the port of Taicang, China, arrived at the Iquique terminal to unload a new shipment, this time, of 396 BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) batteries.

This strategic shipment is destined for the Atacama Solar photovoltaic project, located in the Tamarugal Province, in the interior of the region, a key infrastructure for storing energy from Non-Conventional Renewable Energy Sources (NCRE).

The port logistics operation was led by the shipping agency Somarco and executed by the stevedoring company Conosur Logistic and port workers, applying safety standards and the efficiency of Iquique's port services for the reception of high-tech cargo and large-scale projects.

In this way, Empresa Portuaria Iquique strengthens its position as a fundamental logistical articulator for the northern macro-zone, facilitating the arrival of crucial technological inputs that drive the country's clean energy matrix and directly benefit the development of the Tamarugal Province and the entire Tarapacá Region.
