The Alexandria Port Authority welcomed the Ambassador of Malaysia to Egypt, Dato' Mohd Tarid Sufian, and his accompanying delegation. The visit focused on exploring ways to strengthen joint cooperation in the fields of maritime transport, ports, trade, and logistics.
During the meeting, the Chairman of the Authority's Board of Directors, Rear Admiral Ehab Salah, highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation with Malaysia and mutually benefiting from the experience and knowledge in maritime transport and logistics.
The Chairman emphasized Malaysia's fundamental role in international trade and maritime transport, given its strategic location in the Strait of Malacca.
The Authority presented the main characteristics and capabilities of the Port of Alexandria, highlighting the significant development projects undertaken in recent years, including improvements to docks, terminals, and logistics areas, as well as the modernization of operational systems and and services.
These improvements have enhanced the port's capabilities, its competitiveness, and its role as an important center for trade, transport, and logistics.
The meeting also addressed the importance of strengthening direct communication between the Alexandria Port Authority and the Malaysia Port Authority, and establishing contact points between both parties to turn cooperation opportunities into concrete and viable actions.
For its part, Malaysia expressed a clear interest in strengthening cooperation with Egypt and the Port of Alexandria in maritime transport, ports, and logistics, as well as in boosting trade, exports, and imports between the two countries.
Likewise, the Malaysian envoys expressed their desire to move towards signing a memorandum of understanding that defines the frameworks and areas of joint cooperation, thus laying the groundwork for a new stage of practical collaboration.
The Alexandria Port Authority reported that the visit represents an important step towards expanding Egyptian-Malaysian cooperation in the maritime transport and logistics sector, opening new perspectives for knowledge exchange and promoting trade between the two countries.
