Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim pledged that Kuala Lumpur would crack down on any shipments through Malaysia that aid Israel's military capabilities.
"Malaysia's stance is clear and unequivocal," Anwar stated on the American social media platform X.
The authority added that his country would not allow itself to be "used as a conduit for any shipment that supports or contributes to Israel's military capabilities and its atrocities against Palestinians and other innocent lives."
It is worth noting that Bloomberg reported that Malaysian authorities seized three containers bound for Israel at the Port of Tanjung Pelepas, which occurred on August 19, 2026.
To date, the cargo vessels have not been released as authorities investigate their contents, according to the American media outlet, citing people familiar with the matter.
The containers, reportedly carrying electric bicycle parts from a Chinese manufacturer, were headed for the Port of Ashdod, south of Tel Aviv.
Another cargo vessel, originating from the Philippines, was detained on August 7 after Malaysian authorities suspected it contained weapons, as its destination was the Israeli defense company Elbit Systems.
"Any suspicious shipment will be subject to inspection and investigation in accordance with Malaysian law. When a violation is determined, decisive action will be taken," Anwar declared.
