The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) of Peru, through the General Directorate of Civil Aeronautics (DGAC), granted the Brazilian company Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras an international flight permit to carry out non-regular commercial cargo services on the Manaus – Lima route and vice versa. This initiative optimizes the international logistics chain and boosts commercial exchange between Peru and Brazil.
Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras, part of the Azul S.A. aeronautical group and one of the main operators in Latin America, integrates extensive domestic connectivity with international operations that link key industrial centers in the Brazilian Amazon, specialized in electronics, technology, and manufacturing, with regional markets. The operations of this new airline will be carried out with Airbus A321-231 aircraft, which have a capacity of up to 27 tons of payload and an initial frequency of one weekly flight.
With the incorporation of this airline, Jorge Chávez International Airport strengthens its network of international operators, which currently includes specialized companies such as Air Canada Cargo, Cargojet, Atlas Air, Korean Air Cargo, Amerijet, MAS Air, and Wingo Cargo, among others. During the second half of 2026, these companies have been operating approximately between 17 and 24 weekly international cargo frequencies, so the addition of this new operator strengthens the country's offering and competitiveness in the air sector.
This start of operations is possible thanks to the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between both nations. Currently, the DGAC continues to carry out the necessary technical and administrative coordinations with the company to obtain the definitive Operating Permit and the required authorizations, thus guaranteeing its permanent presence in the national market.
In this regard, the sector maintains constant dialogue with Azul Linhas Aéreas and other companies in the field to materialize new opportunities that allow increasing and strengthening the country's air connectivity.
