Gerald Kong, manager of Ultraport Arica, was appointed by the Regional Council to represent the labor sector on the Regional Productive Development Committee (CDPR), the body that allocates resources to innovation, entrepreneurship, and competitiveness projects in the area.
The CDPR brings together public and private representatives from Arica and Parinacota and defines, among other matters, the priorities for tourism, innovation, agriculture, sustainability, gender equity, logistics, and territorial development for 2026. It is chaired by the regional governor, Diego Paco Mamani, and its executive director is Mirtha Arancibia, regional director of Corfo.
Specifically, Kong will participate in the analysis and decision-making on initiatives aimed at strengthening the competitiveness and productive development of the territory.
"Gerald Kong brings a distinguished professional career and a valuable vision of the regional productive sector. His experience in a leading company in the logistics industry strengthens the Committee's work, especially in a strategic area for the development of Arica and Parinacota," said Mirtha Arancibia.
"I highly value the opportunity to be part of an instance that brings together different perspectives and capacities around the development of a region so strategic for our country. These collaborative spaces are key to promoting initiatives that respond to the needs of the region and contribute to strengthening its competitiveness, productive activity, and social development," said Kong.
It is worth mentioning that Kong is also a director of the Arica Port Logistics Community and an alternate director of the Association of Industrialists of Arica (Asinda).
His arrival at the CDPR is expected to add a perspective from port logistics to the committee, one of the sectors that the body itself defined as priorities for 2026.
