Terminal Puerto Coquimbo (TPC) received the vessels BBC Rhine, BBC Volga, and BBC Kimberley in recent weeks. These ships arrived with project cargo, mainly equipment and machinery destined for mining activity.
The concessionaire highlighted that "these operations demonstrate the role that Port of Coquimbo plays as a logistical platform for productive projects in the region and the central-north of the country."
"The relationship between the port and mining is not limited to the export of minerals. TPC is also a gateway for large machinery, equipment, and components necessary to develop new projects, modernize operations, and strengthen the industry's productive capacity," the company remarked.
According to the company, the consecutive handling of these three vessels tested specialized planning, coordination, and operation capabilities to mobilize highly complex cargo and connect it with its destinations on land.
During 2025, TPC mobilized over 360 thousand tons of copper concentrate, so – in the concessionaire's opinion – the arrival of new equipment by sea complements this participation in the mining logistics chain and reinforces the link between port activity, investment, and regional development.
"Behind each operation, there is also a work chain that brings together port workers, transporters, suppliers, service companies, and different actors in the logistical ecosystem. At TPC, we continue to strengthen our capabilities to support the productive development of the Coquimbo Region and respond to the logistical needs of a key industry for the territory," they emphasized.
