Coast Guard launches Homeland Security Cutter-Ocean program with civilian vessel support
The U.S. Coast Guard launched the Homeland Security Cutter-Ocean program, chartering civilian-crewed offshore vessels to provide logistics support for its cutter fleet, particularly Fast Response Cutters. The initiative, modeled after U.S. Navy practices, enables supply delivery and crew changes at sea, allowing Coast Guard law enforcement assets to remain deployed longer in mission areas. Vice Adm. Nate Moore stated the program will increase operational endurance and effectiveness while keeping crews focused on their mission.
