During the visit, the Deputy General Manager of the terminal, Jason Guillén, provided details on the port's characteristics and projections, highlighting its importance as a center for cargo reception, concentration, and redistribution in the South American Pacific, as well as its contribution to strengthening the country's commercial connection with international markets.
In this regard, the port of Chancay constitutes a geostrategic commitment aimed at consolidating Peru as a key logistical hub for trans-Pacific trade and as a platform for regional projection towards the Pacific Ocean.
The magnitude of port operations, the entry of large vessels, and the increase in maritime traffic associated with the terminal pose new challenges in terms of maritime control and surveillance, navigation safety, safeguarding human life at sea, protecting the aquatic environment, and preventing and repressing illicit activities.
These responsibilities are directly linked to the institutional mission of the Directorate General of Captaincies and Coast Guards (DICAPI), the National Maritime Authority of Peru.
