The Panama Canal Board of Directors has appointed Rubén Gustavo Pérez Pinzón as Deputy Administrator of the interoceanic waterway. He assumed the position on September 7, as part of the transition to the new administration of Ilya Espino de Marotta.
Pérez Pinzón has 35 years of experience at the Canal and will remain in the position until the selection process for the permanent Deputy Administrator concludes. His appointment aims to ensure the continuity of operations during the change of administration.
The new administration will be responsible for managing strategic projects related to infrastructure, energy, and water security. Among the main challenges are the water supply for the Canal and the population, as well as maintaining the operational capacity of one of the world's main maritime trade routes.
