Terminal Cuenca del Plata (TCP), a facility specializing in container handling and located in the Port of Montevideo, received its new STS crane number 9.
The equipment is 85 meters high, has a 62-meter boom, 22 meters between rails, 46.5 meters of lifting height, and the capacity to operate vessels with up to 22 rows of containers. The unit can move up to 65 tons in twin-lift mode and 75 tons with a hook.
The super post-Panamax crane was manufactured by ZPMC and is designed to serve large container ships navigating international maritime routes.
Daniel Barbitta, pier chief at TCP, stated that "this incorporation is part of an important investment process in infrastructure and equipment that continues to prepare TCP and the Port of Montevideo for the challenges of the coming years."
"Behind an incorporation of this magnitude there are also people: engineering, maintenance, operations, planning, training teams, and many other areas working to transform a project of these characteristics into a new tool for our daily operation," Barbitta emphasized.
