Two Merchant Vessels Collide in Guatemalan Port, No Casualties Reported
Two merchant vessels collided on 23 May in the port of Puerto Santo Tomás de Castilla, Guatemala, with no injuries or pollution reported. The container vessel Seaboard Pride Pride, which was fully loaded, was manoeuvring in the access channel when it collided with the vessel Saturn, reportedly docked at the berth, at approximately 3:15 pm local time. The Guatemalan Ministry of Defence confirmed that emergency procedures were immediately activated and no operational disruptions or port shutdowns occurred. An investigation has been launched to determine the cause.
