Hanwha Ocean Obtains ABS Approval for Multipurpose LNG-Ammonia Fuel Tank

ABS has granted Hanwha Ocean an Approval in Principle (AiP) for a multipurpose fuel tank and gas supply system, enabling a methane carrier to switch between LNG and ammonia. The integrated system was reviewed against international classification requirements. This approval is part of ongoing collaborations, including a 2023 AiP for an ammonia gas turbine and a 2024 gas dispersion study on a 174,000 m³ methane carrier.
